How to prepare for & maintain your Tan

Always wax or shave at least 8 hours prior to your spray tan. This time frame allows your skin to recover, and your pores to close after waxing, if you don't allow 8hrs (24hrs is better) you run the risk of your pores collecting small amounts of solution and tanning - the result is a spotty tan!

Attend your appointment freshly showered and exfoliated. No moisturizers - No deodorants or perfumes. - No make-up at all. - All of these will act as a barrier & will stop your tan getting through to your skin.

Thoroughly exfoliate prior to your appointment. Your tan will be even and you will get a longer lasting result if you thoroughly exfoliate, concentrating on any particularly dry areas. For best skin results exfoliate the skin 2-3 days consecutively prior to the spray tan.

It is up to the individual as to how little clothing you wear during your spray tan appointment. If you prefer no tan lines, feel free to tan in your birthday suit. (Minimum clothing for Men applies - boxers or briefs) However do keep in mind that if you choose to wear something to cover up, you will have tan lines.

Bring loose fitting clothing and footwear, to wear after your spray tan. Also bring something to keep your hair tied up and away from your face and body during your session. Tight clothing, denim jeans especially will damage your tan before it has a chance to develop. Socks and runners are not recommended. Also to preserve your tan, it is advisable to leave your bra off after tan application. Remove all jewellery prior to your appointment, this will have to remain off until after your first shower.

Avoid any strenuous exercise or perspiration activity immediately after the spray tanning session, as this will affect the process. Do not apply any creams or deodorants until after the first shower. Avoid any water contact on the skin until after the first shower. Water contact stops the tanning process immediately.

When driving home after your spray tan application, your tan will be dry enough to wear your seatbelt.

DO NOT SHOWER for at least 8 hours after your tan application, unless advised otherwise, as your tan needs this time to fully develop.

After your tan has developed, shower as usual and apply a moisturiser. This will help prolong the life of your spray tan. It is normal for a small amount of colour will wash off during the first shower. It's just the instant bronzer, not your tan.

Avoid Chlorinated pools, spas and excessive heat such as a sauna as this will dramatically accelerate the fading process. Chlorine is a form of bleach, which accelerates the process of your tan fading. Avoid shaving or waxing following the spray tan application as these processes remove the very top layer of the skin, removing the tan in that area. Shaving can cause the tan to look patchy. If you need to shave after your tan, ensure you have a fresh razor and shave lighty, avoid dragging the razor against your skin excessively.

Apply a good quality moisturiser twice daily! Doing this slows down the natural skin's exfoliation process extending the life of your tan. The more moisturiser you apply the longer your tan will last. We want you to have your spray tan for as long as possible!

Remember that dry skin, long showers / baths, and chlorine in pools will all shorten the life of your tan.

After showering, always pat the skin dry. Do not rub.

Your tan will last between 7-10 days depending how well you look after it.

Your spray tan does not offer you any sun protection - please ensure you take sufficient steps to prevent sun damage. It is absolutely ok to apply sunscreen over your spray tan, when exposing your skin to the sun's rays.

If it is raining on the day of your spray tan, wear loose but protective clothing to cover the entire body to ensure it does not come in contact with the rain. We have found a light tracksuit and umbrella sufficient to protect in most circumstances.
